Seminar on Challenges and Opportunities related to a new Climate Economy: Driving innovation for Sustaintable Development

COASTAL was also presented at the seminar on “Challenges and Opportunities related to a new Climate Economy: Driving Innovation for Sustainable Development”  on  2 May 2019  held at the Academy of Athens organized by Navarino Environmental Observatory (NEO) which is a research cooperation between Stockholm University, Academy of Athens and the Greek company TEMES.

The seminar was held under the auspices of the President of the Hellenic Republic Prokopis Pavlopoulos and H.R.H. Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden and with the support of the Embassy of Sweden in Athens.
Speakers at the seminar were researchers and experts from both Sweden and Greece. The speakers touched on different topics, highlighting both challenges and opportunities in the future. They enlightened the participants on how a new climate economy is developing where climate smart investments, sustainable urban planning and innovation is the way forward in our rapidly changing world and inspired a great deal of hope.

The Swedish Ambassador to Greece, Charlotte Sammelin made concluding remarks about the potential for cooperation between Sweden and Greece in clean tech, an industry with huge potential in which Sweden has substantial experience. Greece on the other hand has a highly skilled work force, excellent academics as well as a strong entrepreneurial tradition. This combination constitutes a basis for a fruitful cooperation between business and research to develop climate smart solutions and new innovations.
